A fever is basically symptomatic of another condition or illness, and also if your body is fighting an infection, a flu or dealing with excess toxins in the body:
- LUKE WARM BATH: This should bring your temperature down and you should add some healing bath salts or essential oils to it if possible. (do not bathe in cold water).
- SPONGE BATH: Sponging high-heat areas like your armpits and groin with cool water can help reduce your temperature as the water evaporates.
- COLD TOWELS: Use cold washcloths on your forehead and the back of your neck.
- BASIL, GINGER and HONEY TEA (TULSI): It is believed that Basil is as effective as antibiotics, bring down a fever. Take about 20 basil leaves and boil them, add 1 tsp crushed ginger to this tulsi water and boil till water reduces by half. Add honey and drink 2 to 3 times daily.
- APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: The slightly acidic nature draws heat and cools the body. It also replenishes the body with lost minerals. Mix teaspoons with 1 tbsp honey in a glass of warm water and drink 2 to 3 times a day.
- YARROW TEA: This herb opens your pores and triggers the sweating that is said to move a fever toward its end. Boil a tablespoon of yarrow in water and let it cool. Drink a cup or two until you start to sweat.
- ELDERFLOWER TEA: whether it’s a fever, flu, cold or an overload of mucus, this tea helps immensely. Boil 2 tsp in hot water and let it cool. Drink 2 or 3 times a day.
- CAYENNE PEPPER: Contains capsaicin, which makes you sweat and also promotes rapid blood circulation.
MUSTARD FOOTBATH: Soak your feet in 8 cups of hot water and add four teaspoons of mustard powder. This draws blood to the feet and improves circulation. You can also add crystals for healing into the water. (refer to our article on “get to know your crystals” )
