Coughs are a result of irritants, cold& flu, allergies, acid reflux and infections. The best treatment for a cough will depend on its underlying cause. Rather than dousing yourself with medicines it’s important to give your body natural remedies to help to fight back and build its own immunity.

Some wonderful Natural home remedies for a cough:

Simply take a tsp of honey or mix 2 tsp organic honey in a cup of hot water or mix in herbal teas.

- 3 tsp Organic raw honey

- 40 grams of fresh ginger slices
- 2 cups of hot water.Allow ginger to boil in water till 2 cups reduces to 1 cup. You can add 1 tsp organic honey and ¼ tsp lemon juice for taste as well as to additionally soothe your cough.
Note: In some cases, ginger tea can cause heartburn or an upset stomach.
Do Steam Inhalations with Eeesetial Oils:
Steams are wonderful for a wet cough, which is one that produces mucus or phlegm.
Fill facial steamer as per instructions with water and add pure organic essential oils, such as eucalyptus (reduces inflammation, muscle tension, pain) Rosemary, (reduces mucus), Peppermint (decongestant, relaxes wind pipe muscles), Thyme (fights viruses & bacteria) or Geranium (effective cough reliever) and inhale for up to 5 minutes to relieve congestion. Alternatively, you can fill a bowl with steaming hot water, lean over it while placing a towel over your head. This traps the steam and you should inhale the vapors for up to 5 minutes.
Note: Please stop if it causes your skin or respiratory tracts any discomfort.
Use a few drops of essential oils only, and yes! You may mix a couple as well.
Never use essential oils directly on skin.
Marshmallow Root Tea:
Marshmallow root is a herb that is well known to ease irritation resulting from coughing because of its high mucilage (thick, gluey substance that coats the throat)content
Add hot water and drink it. The longer you let the marshmallow root steeps in the water, the more mucilage will be present in the drink.
Note : Side effects can include stomach upset.
Salt Water Gargles:
Its so easy and super effective for treating a sore throat and wet cough.
Salt water reduces phlegm and mucus and hence lessens the need to cough, so the relief is practically instant.
Dissolve half a teaspoon of Himalayan pink salt into a cup of warm water. Allow the mixture sit at the back of the throat for as long as possible before spitting it out. Gargling can be done multiple times a day, on an as you need basis.
Note: Children under age 6 aren’t especially good at gargling and that swallowing salt water for them can be dangerous.
Drink Pineapple Juice:
Bromelain, an enzyme that is found in pineapples has anti-inflammatory and mucolytic (ability to break down and remove mucus) properties
Its great to drink pineapple juice daily to reduce mucus in the throat and suppress your cough.
Note: People who take blood thinners or specific antibiotics should not drink this as it may affect them adversely.
